Mac OS X is such a powerful machine that you can extract an audio track from a movie with QuickTime Player. There is no need to download any other programs. And it only needs a simple Export setting in QuickTime and you’ll rip the audio track as an .m4a file. Only three steps as the following:
1. Open your video which is compatible with QuickTime Player
2. Pull down the “File” menu and select the “Export”
3. Select the “Audio Only” item in the “Format” drop-down list, and click “Export”
The conversion time will depend on the speed of your Mac and the video size. What’s more, it may work in the Windows version of QuickTime Player as well. The process is much similar to the Mac version.
If your video is incompatible with QuickTime, how could you achieve this purpose? You can convert your video to some format compatible with QuickTime, and then rip the audio track from the converted video with QuickTime. Or you can extract the audio track with some video-to-audio programs. According to my personal experience, the latter solution is much more convenient. I will take Clone2Go DVD Ripper for Windows version as an example. There is a Mac version as well.
1. Add you video to Clone2Go DVD Ripper
2. Choose the audio format you prefer in the “General Audio” drop-down list
3. Start the conversion by clicking the “Start Encode”.
There is a step-by-step guide on such video-to-audio topic. You can refer to it: How to extract audio from DVD as MP3/WAV/OGG/M4A/WMA file. Both the DVD to audio conversion and video to audio conversion are similar to each other. You can draw some differences between the two.
On the other hand, Clone2Go DVD Ripper can works as a free YouTube Video Downloader as well. You just need the URL of the video. Then you can extract the audio track from the downloaded YouTube video with Clone2Go DVD Ripper. In this way, there is no need to download another YouTube video download program. It is very convenient to use. You can refer to How to Free Download YouTube Videos for iPod/Zune/PSP/BlackBerry.
