How to Convert AAC to MP3?

What is AAC?

Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) is a standardized, lossy compression and encoding scheme for digital audio. Designed to be the successor of the MP3 format, AAC generally achieves better sound quality than MP3 at similar bit rates. AAC is the default or standard audio format for: Apple's iPhone, iPod, iPad, Nintendo DSi, iTunes, DivX Plus Web Player, Sony's PlayStation 3 and is supported by Sony's PlayStation Portable, latest generation of Sony Walkman, phones from Sony Ericsson, the latest S40 and S60 models from Nokia, Android based phones, Nintendo's Wii (with the Photo Channel 1.1 update installed for Wii consoles purchased before late 2007), the Nintendo DSi and the MPEG-4 video standard.

The following article shares with you how to convert AAC to MP3 using Clone2Go Free Audio Converter. In the latter part of this article, a way to convert iTunes DRM protected AAC (M4P) to MP3 will also be introduced. Let's take a look at how it performs:

Note: The M4P file type is primarily associated with 'Protected AAC File' by Apple Inc.. The .M4P extension is AAC purchased from Apple's Music Store (iTune) and is protected by a Digital Rights Management scheme. This Free Audio Converter cannot help you convert iTunes DRM protected AAC to MP3. If you want to convert DRM protected AAC (M4P) to MP3, you will need to get a DRM removal to help you. Here, I would recommend using TuneClone Audio Converter, which adopts the smart virtual CD burning technology to remove the DRM from protected iTunes music files.
